KOGAS
In order to achieve stable hydrogen supply, greenhouse gas reduction, and economic feasibility at the same time, we must develop a business model that produces hydrogen abroad and transports it into the country.
KOGAS therefore strives to secure large-scale overseas green hydrogen production and liquefaction sources through cooperation with global companies.
Considering the efficiency of use of renewable energy, installation costs, and civil complaints, it is more economical to produce hydrogen in regions rich in natural energy, such as the Middle East, Australia, and Mongolia. In fact, a global value chain for hydrogen production and distribution is being formed, chiefly in Japan and Germany.
Japan
A demonstration project (HYSTRA) produces hydrogen in Australia and the Middle East, and brings it into the country in the form of liquefied ammonia.
Germany
There is a plan to produce hydrogen in Morocco (Hydrogen Economy Roadmap, July 2020).
