Response to climate change.

KOGAS, Korea’s leading low carbon energy enterprise, has quantified emissions voluntarily by maintaining a greenhouse gas inventory since 2008, and has carried out activities to reduce energy in respective workplaces to join the international effort to prevent global warming.

Implementation of Emission Trading

KOGAS has been faithfully implementing the national GHG(Greenhouse Gas) reduction policies since the inception of the K-ETS(Korea Emissions Trading Scheme) in 2015. During the recent 3rd Plan Period (2021–2025), we have successfully fulfilled all legal obligations, including GHG emissions calculation, verification, and surrender of allowances, thereby establishing a stable and robust emissions management system. Looking ahead to the 4th Plan Period (2026–2030), KOGAS is committed to proactively adapting to evolving policy landscape, such as the reduced allocation of emission allowances. We will continue to diligently implement the ETS, contributing to the national GHG reduction goals and fostering green growth toward carbon neutrality.

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Activities

KOGAS is implementing various greenhouse gas reduction initiatives across all facilities annually to achieve its ESG target of a 40% reduction by 2030. In particular, it is improving equipment operating methods and introducing high-efficiency facilities to reduce direct and indirect GHG emissions from natural gas production processes. Additionally, KOGAS is enhancing employee understanding of carbon neutrality and raising environmental awareness through carbon neutrality seminars and working groups, striving to develop-medium and long-term strategies for GHG reduction.
