Chemical Substances

KOGAS checks toxicity and safety-related matters in the purchase, production, and import of chemical substances required for the process of natural gas production and supply. We use substances such as sodium hydroxide (NaOH), hydrochloric acid (HCI), and potassium hydroxide (KOH) at low, non-hazardous concentrations. The odorant put into gas to detect leaks and the sodium hypochlorite injected to prevent adhesion to marine life do not contain harmful chemical substances.
